It is desirable that applicants to the Bachelor's degree program in Biology have the following basic characteristics.

- Aptitudes: Knowing how to take advantage of available resources, teamwork, critical analysis skills, synthesis skills, logical-mathematical skills, reading comprehension skills, writing and composition skills, creativity, public speaking skills and manual skills.
- Academic background: Good background in the areas of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science.
Graduate Profile
The Biology graduate will be a professional committed to the protection, conservation, restoration and improvement of the environment to promote sustainable development and establish the basis to guarantee the right of all people to live in a healthy environment for their development, health and wellbeing, helping to define environmental policies and their instruments for their application, preserves biodiversity through the establishment and administration of protected natural areas, participates in the regulation of the use of biological resources under the precepts of sustainable development and conducts research in the biomedical area, acts respecting ethical standards to give a human sense to their professional practice.
The competencies that a Biology graduate should have are the following:
- Is a professional with a comprehensive training in biology and in the use of the scientific method.
- Participates and develops scientific research for the generation and dissemination of knowledge about the composition, structure, function and evolution of biological systems.
- In general their knowledge is oriented to the principles and laws that govern the functioning of living beings, their organization, equilibrium and deterioration. To respond to the modifications of the environment, and to the resolution of the problems that threaten its integrity, from the molecular level to the ecosystem level.
- Performs with an ethical and social commitment, to develop their professional activity from a critical, proactive, collaborative, innovative and entrepreneurial stance according to the sociocultural and political context within the framework of sustainability.
- Knows the different ecosystems, in addition to studying living organisms and their interactions with other beings and their environment. Possesses competencies in detecting biological problems in botany, zoology, microbiology, bacteriology, cytology, geology, genetics and ecology mainly.
- Prepares and evaluates diagnoses on the composition, conservation status, threats, risks and use of biodiversity, taking into account current regulations, as well as identifying areas of opportunity for the application and development of biotechnological processes.
- Promotes and participates in the development of strategies to sensitize and educate society about biological systems, their functioning, balance and deterioration.
